West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government to shun politics of vendetta" and work with the Opposition parties to revive the economy.
Speaking to the media here, she also accused the centre of not clearing so far dues of about Rs 1 lakh crore to her state on various heads.
"The Prime Minister should take everybody into confidence and if necessary hold meetings with opposition parties to find out ways to revive the economy. The Centre should focus more on the economy and stop resorting to vendetta politics," said Banerjee.
She appealed to Modi to take the recent comments by the RBI about the state of the Indian economy "seriously".
"The RBI's comments are serious issues. The Centre should carefully look into it and act accordingly, instead of being busy in the politics of hatred," she said.
Banerjee said Bengal was yet to get a "single paisa" from the centre for the damages inflicted by Severe Cyclone Bulbul that hit the state last November.
"We are yet to get a single paisa on account of Bulbul. In fact, we are yet to get due of Rs 1 lakh crore from the centre on various heads. On top of that, we have to repay an annual debt of Rs 50,000 crore," she said.

CBI questions Kolkata top cop, ex-TMC MP in Saradha, Rose Valley scams

The CBI has been questioning Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar and former TMC MP Kunal Ghosh by making them sit face to face at the probe agency's office here in connection with the Saradha chit fund and Rose Valley scams, officials.

The marathon questioning of Kumar, that began at 10.30 am, was still on at 9.30 pm when this report was filed.

The questioning by the CBI, being done as per the directions of the Supreme Court, continued for the second day on Sunday.

A two-member CBI team, who are the Investigating Officers in the Saradha and Rose Valley scams, arrived here in the afternoon.

Kumar and Ghosh were grilled in the initial period by a 10-member team of the CBI, the officials said.

The Kolkata Police chief was quizzed for nearly nine hours on Saturday by three senior CBI officers about his alleged role in tampering of crucial evidence in the case, they said.
Kumar had led the special investigation team (SIT) formed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to probe the Saradha scam before the case was handed over to the CBI by the apex court.

 Officials in Delhi said the CBI has not acceded to the demand of Kumar to have his questioning session videographed.

Over 36 countries would be participating in the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) which gets underway from Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Wednesday.
Banerjee will be meeting heads of different provinces of these countries as well as their ambassadors over dinner on Wednesday evening.

"Prominent industrialists from the country will be attending tomorrow's business summit. You will see who is coming at the programme," she told reporters at the state secretariat.
She said Mukesh Ambani will lead a clutch of industrialists to the event including Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group and others.

Asked about the focus of the state government's showpiece event, Banerjee said, "Every sector will be under focus. See how many MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) get signed".
Of the 10 lakh investment proposals received during last year's summit, over 50 per cent have already been implemented which is a record among all other business meets in the country, she said.
Banerjee said Union Commerce & Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu has sent a video which will be shown at the summit.


 She said the state government has already sent out invites to Union ministers but it is "up to them to decide" to accept it or not.

Kolkata Police-CBI clash: Mamata sits on dharna, attacks PM Modi over raids

Around 6pm, 40 CBI officers reached Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s residence over alleged involvement in chit fund scams linked to Saradha and Rose Valley.

The Kolkata Police is believed to have sought a search warrant. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers’ failure to produce one led the police to detain some officers, who were whisked away in jeeps. There are contradictory reports on whether they were arrested. In a retaliatory move, Kolkata Police also landed at the CGO Complex, the CBI headquarters in the state.

Banerjee rushed to Loudon Street, the Commissioner's residence, to take stock of the situation and threw her weight behind Kumar.

“This has happened a day after (PM) Modi was here,” she said, addressing the media. She also said Ajit Doval (National Security Advisor) was implementing Modi's agenda and he was giving instruction to the CBI.

Modi in panic mode, criticising EVM committee as elections near: Congress
