Apple dominated India's premium smartphone segment with 48.8% share in Q2

 

Riding on the achievement of its iPhone 11 and iPhone XR gadgets, Apple by and by overwhelmed the India premium cell phone showcase with 48.8 percent piece of the pie in the lockdown-hit June quarter, the IDC India said on Friday.

Shipments in the premium ($500 or more) section declined by (- 35.4 percent) in the subsequent quarter (YoY) yet Apple kept up its lead, trailed by Samsung and OnePlus.

The iPhone 11 and iPhone XR together represented 28 percent shipments in this portion in Q2, said the IDC report.

The mid-premium section of ($300-$500) with a portion of 4.8 percent declined YoY by 48.4 percent, with top models, for example, Samsung's Galaxy A51 and A71, vivo's V19, Apple's iPhone SE (2020) and the OnePlus 7T.

As per Upasana Joshi, Associate Research Manager, Client Devices, IDC India, Apple should keep on concentrating more on the $700-$850 (Rs 50,000-Rs 61,000) fragment.

"That is the sweet spot for iPhones in India with included appealing proposals for making the new model arrangement somewhat more reasonable, in any case, proceeding to concentrate on more seasoned age portfolios for volume development," she told IANS.

In the principal quarter, Apple ruled the premium ($500 or more) fragment with a piece of the overall industry of 62.7 percent.

The ($700 and under $1,000) portion enrolled a high development also, as shipments multiplied YoY, with the iPhone 11 representing 68 percent of shipments in this value section.

Apple has begun producing its most noteworthy selling model iPhone 11 in India which is a critical lift to the 'Make in India' activity.

As of now, iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are being gathered by Foxconn at its Chennai fabricating plant while iPhone 7 is being collected by Wistron in Bengaluru.
