OPPO beats Samsung in Q2 as top vendor in Southeast Asian smartphone market

Samsung dropped to the second spot in the Southeast Asian cell phone market in the second quarter of the year, as Chinese brands extended their quality with spending gadgets, a report said on Monday.

OPPO defeated Samsung to turn into the top merchant with a 20.3 percent piece of the pie.

Samsung was the second-biggest cell phone seller in Southeast Asia with a piece of the pie of 19.5 percent in the April-June period, as indicated by industry tracker Counterpoint Research.

OPPO defeated Samsung to turn into the top merchant with a 20.3 percent piece of the pie.

Chinese telephone creators took four of the main five spots. Vivo came in third with 17.9 percent, trailed by Xiaomi with 14 percent and Realme with 12.8 percent.

Samsung first surrendered its top seller position in the Southeast Asian market to OPPO in the final quarter of 2019.

The South Korean tech titan recovered the main status in the primary quarter of this current year with a 18.9 percent piece of the pie, which was 0.2 rate point higher than OPPO, reports Yonhap news organization.

The report said Samsung's battle came as more Southeast Asian buyers selected to purchase financial plan cell phones in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

By and large, cell phone shipments in Southeast Asia dropped 22 percent on-year to 24 million units in the subsequent quarter.
