Singapore: 13k foreigners barred from work for missing Covid test deadline

Around 13,000 unfamiliar specialists in Singapore were not permitted to continue work after they missed the cutoff time to go through the required fortnightly COVID-19 testing, authorities said on Tuesday.

The AccessCode Status for these 13,000 unfamiliar specialists will stay "red" and they can't come back to work, said the Ministry of Health.

This is to ensure the wellbeing and security of different laborers, it included.

The laborers missed the September 5 cutoff time to go through the fortnightly Rostered Routine Testing (RRT).

When these laborers have gone through their RRT, their AccessCode will be reestablished to "green" and they will be permitted to come back to work.

As a major aspect of the shields to guarantee the safe restart of work, laborers, huge numbers of them from India, remaining in quarters, are needed to go through rostered routine testing at regular intervals.

The Ministry of Manpower, Economic Development Board, Building and Construction Authority, and Health Promotion Board have been connecting with the businesses since August and reminding them to plan their laborers for RRT before September 5 cutoff time.

Then, Singapore on Tuesday revealed 47 new Covid cases, taking the nation's count to 57,091.

There was an imported case who had been set on remain at home notification upon appearance in Singapore. The rest were transient laborers here.
